A Montgomery County woman is indicted after allegedly embezzling money from
the bank she managed.
38-year-old Candida Lehnen of Middletown appeared in federal court Wednesday
on one count of embezzlement by a bank officer. Prosecutors claim she stole over
90-thousand dollars when she managed Middletown’s branch of American Bank.
Lehnen allegedly used fake information when processing cashier’s checks so
she could keep the money herself. Prosecutors also say she used altered debit
tickets to get money, and even closed an account belonging to someone who died,
then withdrew the money in it.
If she is convicted, Lehnen faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of up
to one million dollars
